Mental Health Awareness
Through our SAMHSA-funded MAPS Project, we offer free Mental Health First Aid training and community awareness workshops to equip Augusta residents to recognize and respond to mental health challenges.
About the MAPS Program
Mental Health Matters in Our Community
The MAPS (Minority AIDS Project Supplemental) Project is a SAMHSA-funded initiative at New Bethlehem Community Center focused on improving mental health awareness, access, and outcomes for underserved communities in Augusta.
A cornerstone of our program is Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) — an evidence-based training that teaches community members how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. Just as CPR helps someone having a heart attack, MHFA helps someone experiencing a mental health crisis.
We also offer workshops, awareness events, and individual navigation support to connect residents with mental health services and resources in the CSRA.
